Joint Crisis Committee: German Cabinet
Agenda: Operation Barbarossa
The Soviet Union and Nazi Germany were bound to go to war: both states were based on extreme opposite ideologies (communism and fascism), and Hitler had made his intentions about annexing Russian land for living space very clear in his book ‘Mein Kampf.’ Heck, the axis powers of World War II were united by the anti-Comintern pack, which specifically targets the Soviet Union. So it wasn’t so much of a surprise when, despite the Molotov Ribbentrop pact that entailed non-aggression, Hitler launched operation Barbarossa in 1941.
Our committee will start at the onset of Operation Barbarossa, and your objective is to ensure the success of your Fuhrer’s campaign. This committee will not only test your research skills, but also your ability to improvise and make quick and tactful decisions under pressure. This is a war cabinet, and only suitable for the best delegates.
Operation Barbarossa is the largest invasion in the history of warfare. It resulted in the majority of casualties for either side during the war, and what is perhaps the greatest turn around in the history of warfare. We expect you to do justice to this topic, and EMUN’s first ever JCC.
Viel Erfolg
